Be Back Soon

Just a little note..

Hi my Glam and Green fans,
I'm going away for a few weeks so there will be no posts for a while - but I'll be back soon and will hopefully have some more glam and green knowledge to share with you all.

Keep the emails (theggg@mweb.co.za) and tweets (@GlamGreenGirl) coming about how you are becoming more Glam and Green!

Lots of love to you all

Review - Tip Top Nail Chic

Toxin Free Nail Polish - Tip Top Nail Chic

A nail polish free of the 'toxic trio'? That still looks good? Yes my Glam and Green dolls, it is true - it does exist! Tip Top Nail Chic is proudly toxin free!

So what is the 'toxic trio'? The toxic trio includes the following: formaldehyde, dibutylphtate (DBP) and toulene. All of the chemicals are found in many nail polishes and can be absorbed into the skin through the nail bed eeeeek! Tip Top is also Camphor free, another toxin that can be absorbed by your body.

These toxins are not only bad for your health, but for the environment. Each time you trow out a nail polish, it leaks into the ground - causing the soil to absorb these toxins.

Luckily you can still be glam and green with Tip Top Nail Chic!

They have a wonderful range of colours! I tested out the colours 'pot-o-berries' and 'armourplate' and topped my nail that was painted in 'armourplate' with the Tip Top Rikki Brest 'U Crack Me Up' - see in my photos below. Next week I'll be sporting the 'crushed grapes' colour, a deep purple that's perfect for winter!

after applying 'U Crack Me Up'

There is so much you can do with the colours, you can create such fun nail art

This is what Charlene from Gee Whiskers created with her Tip Top nails polishes (love the hearts!!!)

A little tip? I would head over to the  Tip Top Nail Chic Facebook Page as they are always having great give-aways!

Another reason I love this nail polish? So affordable - love me a bargain ;)

Do you use Tip Top Nail Polish? Tweet me a pic :) @GlamGreenGirl

Review - Harmless House

Sanctum Body Polish - Harmless House product

Before I tell you more about the Sanctum Body Polish that I reviewed, here's some information on Harmless House. Harmless House was started with the vision of bringing affordable organic; cruelty free and ethically sourced products to your door. Its an online store where you will find premium bath and body products, and even better, they will deliver your order free of charge!

Now onto the product..
Sanctum is a brand that Harmless House carries because it contains only certified organic and naturally derived ingredients. I love that this brand is inspired by the elements of the sea (we all know how I love the sea) and land surrounding Byron Bay in Australia.

This body polish smells amazing! Want to know why? It's the organic Arabic coffee! Its also infused with crushed Macadamia Nuts and Sea Salt. These ingredients improve circulation and skin condition, and are a natural antioxidant.
I enjoy using this scrub because its not to soft nor is it too coarse - perfect to be used twice a week in either the shower or the bath.

If you are interested in incorporating more Glam and Green products into your beauty routine, I would suggest giving the Harnless House website a squizzle as there are some great products and brands

Spa-Valous Candles

Spa- Valous Soy Cosmetic Massage Candles

A candle that's natural and has many purposes? I'll take one please!
Let me introduce you to the Spa-Valous Soy Cosmetic Massage Candle.

This candle, made from Soy wax has four uses:

1) as a body moisturiser
2) a massage oil
3) first aid ointment
4) aromatherapy candle

This wax melts at only 2'C above normal body temperatures so that's why you can use it as  indicated. Its beneficial for your skin because of the Vitamin E and Shea Butter, as well as Lecithin that is extracted from the soy bean. These three ingredients help with skin ailments for example: eczema, sunburns, cuts, cracked heels, insect bites and any areas of dry skin.

Who is like me and loves a candle-lit bubble bath? For me its the perfect way to end the day. That's why I'm fan of these candles - I light one while I'm bathing and then use it as my moisturiser. It works so well to hydrate your skin, especially now during winter. You can either use it straight after extinguishing the candle as a body oil or allow it to cool so you can use it as a cream. You and your bathroom smells amazing afterwards!

I even love the packaging this product comes in. The box can always be re-used for gifts and the candle jar can be used for jewellery, make up brushes, as a small vase, lipstick holder.. there are endless ways to reuse it

Have any of you tried the Spa-Valous massage candle?

ps: I'll be posting a review on Tip Top nail polish, which is Spa-Valous's sister company soon - toxin free nail polish, very glam and green

Fisker Karma

The Glam and Green Fisker Karma

There's a new kid on the block..
As most of you who know me, know that I'm a sucker when it comes to fast cars. When I lived in Cape Town, Camps Bay was like a candy shop for me with all the luxury cars zooming around. Last week I bought my first copy of South Africa's first green magazine 'Simply Green'  (does a happy dance) and saw a piece about this car - the Fisker Karma, obviously I googled it straight away ;)

The Fisker Karma is a car, according to the manufacturers, that is all about sustainable design without compromise. First of all, I love the name - Karma, so clever. Secondly the Karma is all about high-impact performance and low-impact on the environment. This is achieved by the 'plug in or fill up' notion. Ideally, as a hybrid, you can save on the fuel and rather use it as an electrical car, a luxurious electrical car I might add, but the Karma allows you to switch between the all-electric stealth mode or the fuel assisted sport mode.

Even the interior is Glam and Green! It uses no animal products and uses wood from sunken logs, reclaimed forest-fire timber, and renewable resources like bamboo. It also has a standard full-length photovoltaic roof, which generates enough power to cool the car while parked instead of using energy to power the air-conditioning. It also charges the car, in consistent sunlight, adding a few extra miles. Fisker hopes to add these panels to the garages of Karma's so that the car can charge partly via solar-power

If you click on their website here you can read more about their sustainability efforts.

I just love everything about this car - guess this Glam Green Girl needs to start saving ;)
