20:30 CAT
Tomorrow is Earth Hour and will celebrated in South Africa at 20:30. Earth Hour started in 2007, when 2.2 million people in Australia switched off their lights for an hour. It's a way of taking a stand against climate change and is a way for you to show your support for the environment.
While it's amazing if you can switch off your lights and your electrical appliances on Saturday for an hour, Earth Hour is so much more than just an hour, it's about make sustainable choices in every aspect of your lives.
Here are the tips I post for Earth Hour 2013 and here are a few more ideas for you:
-Take the plunge and make a promise for what you'll do for Earth Hour at EarthHour.org, it can be about anything eg: unplugging your cellphone charger when it's not in use or only using candles as light during Earth Hour.
- I've just discovered Yankee Candles and if you love them as much as I do, light some and switch off the lights for some much need chill time.
- Having a braai? Use the Consol Solar Jars on your tables, it creates a great setting for a good night with family & friends.
- Spend Earth Hour going through your wardrobe and donating to those in need.
- Offset your carbon footprint and help stop deforestration in Zambia by buying a tree from my GivenGain page (you can read more about it here)
What are you going to be doing for Earth Hour 2014?
Thanks for leaving a comment. It's always great to hear from you. ♥
