August 2014 Favourites

My Top Picks for August 2014

Hi friends!

So I know this post is a bit late, but as some of you would have read, I need to take a little blogging break for a few days. There are only a few products that I really loved in August but I know that September's post is going to be a big one!

These three products I received at the end of July at the Bloggers Who Bless Christmas In July party and I've really enjoyed using them. I have already reviewed them so here are the links for them and the reasons why I love them - Dermafix Vitamin Therapy Masque ; Blendbox Firm Body Scrub and the Suigo Vital Nutrition Hair Care Range.

I won this nail polish from Toy South Africa a few weeks ago, along with a purple nail polish & a multi-coloured glitter nail polish but I've been loving this colour for winter and think I will even be rocking it in spring & summer! Toy Nail Polish is 3-free and they use recycled glass for their packaging so I love that they are green! This shade is called "Mojito mood". Here is the link to my instagram pic of my nails.

I mentioned this candle on my Christmas In July Wishlist and my secret santa aka Irina from I'll Take It All bought it for me *yay*. I love burning this candle while I'm working - my whole room smells divine - just like vanilla cupcakes. I think Yankee Candles are such a great gift to give - who doesn't love a scented candle?

Hope you enjoyed my choices - let me know if you've tried any of these products?

REVIEW: Suigo Vital Nutrition Range

Vital Nutrition Shampoo & Vital Nutrition Conditioner by Suigo

Hi there beauties!

Today's beauty review is on a new hair care brand that I've been testing out thanks to Beauty Worx. Before I tell you what I thought of the products, let me tell you about the brand. Suigo is an Australian hair care brand that is now available on South Africa.  They use potent plants, organic ingredients and natural essential oils, sounds perfect for The Glam Green Girl right? They are also committed to protecting the environment so they are all about earth and animal friendly practices, packaging and policies.

First things first, I have to explain my total excitement about two elements from this range - the scent and the amazing volume I got after I washed my hair! So impressed! I received the moisture control range which is meant to help with dry; damaged and chemically treated hair and since we all know those high-lights I always have done aren't the best for my hair, I love to give my hair an extra boost when I can.

Like I mentioned above, I'm obsessed with the scent of this range! I even ran to my brother after I had washed my hair so he could smell it! It has a strong floral scent, it's divine! When I read up on this shampoo, I read that it has orchid extracts (which helps to clean the hair and enhance vitality) as well as grapefruit extracts which activates the hair fibre and helps with your hair's moisture levels.

This conditioner has the same floral scent as the shampoo but not as strong. It's quite thick and you need to keep it on for 3-5 minutes so to me it felt more like I was using a treatment as opposed to a conditioner but hey, the results were worth it as my hair felt super soft and silky, and it smelt so good!

I definitely felt that this shampoo gave me some great volume while the conditioner helped keep the frizz at bay. Both of these products retail for R199 and you can find them here.

Excuse me while I go smell my hair for the rest of the day, in a non-creepy way of course ;)

REVIEW: Vitamin Therapy Masque

Vitamin Therapy Masque by Dermafix

Hi beauties!

Happy Monday! To start off this week, I'll be giving you my thoughts on this new masque I've been trying out, the Vitamin Therapy Masque from Dermafix.

I received this masque at the end of July at the Bloggers Who Bless Christmas in July party that I mentioned about here. Before I tell you more about the masque, let me tell you about Beauty-Worx, the online store where Dermafix is available from. Beauty-Worx was founded in 2013 as a way for those who have a love for beauty products, but don't have time to always hit the shops, to find their favourite products as well as some new products. Beauty-Worx focuses on selling the more niche, unusual or high end products that were already a firm favourite among their clients. Even though Beauty-Worx is an online store, Wendy, the owner, strives to make your online shopping experience as personal as possible and believes that customer satisfaction is key. If you head over to the site, you'll see that there are some really great products available as well as some superb beauty tips.

This Vitamin Therapy Masque is extremely hydrating - which I absolutely love. It's for all skin types and I try use it twice a week. It's high in sterolins, which is said to help reduce the appearance of age spots, scarring and sun damage. Maybe you're like me and you're wondering "what are sterolins?", well sterolins are the natural compounds found in fruits and vegetables. It's literally vegetable fat and is so important for the human body (source).

This masque is actually more than a masque though. You can use the conventional way by applying it to your face after you've cleansed your skin and then rinsing it off after about 15 minutes or you can use this nifty little trick that Wendy taught me, and you can leave it on and use it as a night cream. I had been using it as a masque but decided one night to apply a thin layer and sleep with it on, and I definitely enjoyed how moisturised my skin felt when I woke up. You can even use a small amount for your hands before you go to bed to keep them soft and hydrated.

I'm also a fan of the easy to use pump bottle - so great for not causing any messes!

Dermafix is an environmentally conscious brand and is not tested on animals; does not have any artificial colours; does not include animal ingredients or parabens!

This masque retails for R430 and can be found here. After looking through they other Dermafix products that Beauty-Worx stocks, my wishlist has definitely grown!
