[REVIEW]: LUSH Angels on Bare Skin

Facial and Body Cleanser - Angels on Bare Skin from LUSH

Angels on you skin, hmmm I wonder what would that feel like? Similar to using Rose Oil & Lavender Oil on your skin? Pretty sure it would be close to using Angels on Bare Skin from LUSH.

Made from ground almonds; lavender oil; kaolin clay; rose oil; lavender flowers and more - this facial cleanser (which can also be used on your body) is gentle on your skin yet has an exfoliating effect thanks to the ground almonds.

It reminds me a lot of the Balm Balm Hibiscus Face Mask (I've chatted about it in this video). This is because you need to mix it with a little bit of water to create a paste. You only need to use a tiny bit which is great because you obviously want to keep your LUSH products for as long as possible ;)

Soft, gentle and caring - it's a great cleanser for all types of skin!

This cleanser retails for R160.00 for 100g

Have you tried this LUSH cleanser yet?

[REVIEW]: Babor HY-ÖL & Pyotoactive Cleansing

Combination Cleanser from Babor

When it comes to my evening routine of cleansing my skin, I've always been a fan of using either an oil or balm type of cleanser. My worst is cleansers that 'strip' my skin so that's why oil based cleansers are my favourite as I am left with hydrated skin before climbing into bed.

I'm a huge fan of the Babor brand that is cruelty free and utterly luxurious. You can read my thoughts on their face mask here  and on their eye cream here.

Let's chat about this cleansing duo, it's the Cleansing Hy-ÖL and Cleansing Phytoactive Base.  It's a two step process but deeply cleanses your skin but is gentle and leaves it hydrated.

There are 4 Phytoactive formulas so you will find one suitable for your skin type. This cleansing duo combines the natural cleansing power of water and oil which cleanses thoroughly and effectively yet is still gentle on your skin.

The Hy-ÖL contains natural oils derived from soybeans, sesame and groundnuts and is preservative free. It's great for removing make-up! The Phytoatcive Base contains herbals essences of mint, birch and rosemary which invigorates and leaves the skin feeling fresh.

So how do you use this two step cleansing process?

First apply the Hy-ÖL to your skin (without any added moisture), this removes impurities and makeup, then apply the appropriate Phytoactive solution and rinse off with cool water.

Prices: Hy-ÖL R422 for 200ml & Phytoactive Base R341 for 100ml
Both available from Babor's online store

What type of cleanser is your favourite?

[REVIEW]: LUSH Ultrabland

The LUSH Cult Classic - Ultrabland

Ultrabland... bland? How about UltraAMAZING! This facial cleanser is ultra effective and ultra hydrating!

This cleanser has a oily, yet creamy consistency and is so gentle on your skin. Made from ingredients such as Almond Oil; Rosewater and beeswax (other ingredients are listed below), this cleanser helps remove make up as well as thouroughly cleanses the skin.

This cleanser doesn't have much of a scent which might be where the bland part of the name comes in but it's the effectiveness that counts!

Warm up a small amount in your hands and then apply it to your face, rub it in with some love and tenderness. After massaging it into your skin you can use a cloth or cotton wool pad with some warm water to wipe it off.

Your skin is left hydrated and clean! No wonder this is one of the Lush founders' number one desert island products!

Plus a great thing about this packaging is that it's made from 100% recycled plastic!

It's R120.00 for the 45g tub (this is the 45g one) or R190.00 for the 100g tub and you can find it here on the Lush website.

Have you used Ultrabland yet?

[REVIEW]: REN Hot Cloth Cleanser

Rosa Centifolia Hot Cloth Cleanser from REN

As many of my readers will know from my blog posts and YouTube videos, I'm a huge fan of REN and have loved every product that I've tested from them. This latest product is from their Rosa Centifolia range and is ideal for everyday cleansing use.

This Hot Cloth Cleanser is very similar to their Express Make-Up Remover in my opinion, but don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about that. If you read my post on that cleanser, you will read how much I loved it.

This is a two-phase cleanser in the sense that you open your pores with the hot cloth and then by rinsing your face with cool water, you close your pores. This cleanser decongests; purifies you skin and help removes your make up. Apply it to dry skin, massage it in to help remove make up and then place your cloth over your face for a few seconds (pretend you are at a spa) and then wipe off the cleanser. Rinse your face with cool water after as mentioned before.

This cleanser is great to use now in winter because a) you can use the hot cloth which just makes it so much more pleasant to clean your face and b) it's rich and creamy so will help hydrate your skin.

This cleanser retails for R330.00 and can be bought at Woolworths or online.

What are your thoughts on hot cloth cleansers?

July 2014 Favourites

My Top Picks for July 2014

Hi friends!

I thought it would be fun to share what products I've been loving this month. Often I write reviews on these products but sometimes they need a bit of extra loving on the blog! Only after I had taken all my photos did I realise I had missed a few products but those will be showcased at the end of August.
Hope you enjoy my picks!

Davines: Absolute Beautifying Velvety Cream
This body balm is light enough to be worn in the day, I was expecting it to be a lot 'heavier' but it absorbs quickly and leaves your skin feeling soft and hydrated. It also contains roucou oil which you can read more about in this Davines review here.

Healing Earth: Marula & Neroli Body and Face Balm
This product I gushed about so much in this review and I love applying it on my body at night. I've even started using it on my face about twice a week to add some extra hydration to my skin. Still obsessed with the scent!

REN: 3-in-1 Cleansing Water:
I've been using this every night and you can read more about my thoughts on this product here. Again, another product that has a scent I adore!

Pure Beginnings: Body Wash
This body wash has a citrus scent which reminds me that spring is almost on its way! So great for those early morning when you need to be fresh and ready for a busy day!

MAC: 187 Duo Fiber Face Brush
This brush was my mom's but she wasn't enjoying it so she kindly passed it along to me. I've had it for a while and mainly used it for my face powder but then I decided to use it for applying my foundation - best decision ever! It's fantastic for blending!

Measurable Difference: Brow Amplifying Tint & Lift
Another product that has become a daily staple. I love that it tints and fills my brows - you can read more on what I think about it over here.

Physicians Formula: Happy Booster & 27Pinkx: Angled Brush
This bronzer has become one of my favourites as you can go for a dark bronzed look or you can add more of a blush effect to your cheeks (under the brush is a highly pigmented pink heart for blush). To apply this bronzer, I've been using my 27Pinkx angled brush - you can read more about 27Pinkx here.

So what do you think of my choices? Any of your favourites mentioned here?

REVIEW: REN Cleansers

Rose Centifolia Cleansers from REN

Hi lovelies!

Happy Monday! Today I'm starting off the week with a new review from REN. I've never tried any REN products before so I was delighted when the contacted me to tell me about their new ranges. I've been fortunate to test out a few of their products these past few weeks but I've decided to break it down into a few different reviews. Before I start telling you about these two cleansing products, let me tell you about REN.

REN has a philosphy of clean skincare which can be summed up in three words, performance; purity & pleasure. REN uses only 100% plant and mineral derived actives and is free from skin-unfriendly synthetic ingredients. They are also cruelty-free! You can read more about REN here.

REN has two new products in their cleansing range, the Rosa Centifolia 3-in-1 Cleansing Water and the Rosa Centifolia Express Make-Up Remover. Both of these products have become a stable in my cleansing routine. Interesting fact, Rosa centifolia flower extract (found in both of these products) is an extract of the flowers of the cabbage rose and is said to help tighten the skin and reduce pore size.

I have extremely sensitive eyes and can only use a few products when it comes to removing my eye make-up but I'm happy to report that I didn't have any bad reactions to this make-up remover. This cleansing milk is made from a blend of oils and rose water and is effective enough to even remove waterproof mascara. Add a pump of this to a cotton wool pad and sweep over closed eyes. I wear quite a bit of masacara *Hi my name is Cassidy and I'm addicted to mascara* so I found I needed to sweep over my eyes a few times, but I eventually got the hang of it after a few uses. This product retails for R240 and should last you quite a while as it's 150ml and you just need a small pump when you use it.

This beauty right here has become one of my top products because of two reasons: 1) it's made from rose water which is one of my favourite scents and 2) it's the most convenient product. Let's admit, when you've had a long day and all you want to do is climb into bed, your cleansing routine can seem like a real drag right? While this detergent free cleansing water is a 3-in-1! It's a cleanser; make up remover & toner - hello simplicity! Apply to your face using a cotton wool pad and voilà, you're done! My only problem with this cleansing water is that it says it is suitable for the delicate eye area but like I mentioned, my eyes are so sensitive and haven't agreed with this cleanser so I have to avoid my eye area.  This cleansing water is R250 for 200ml.

REN is available from Woolworths, Foschini or here on their website.

Have you tried any REN products - I'd love to hear what your favourites are!

Winter 2014 Skin Care

A Few Of My Picks for Winter Skincare 2014

Hi everyone!

Since about May, every now and again I keep getting really dry skin and the cold fronts that have been hitting Pretoria haven't been helping much! These are a few of the products that have become a staple in my winter skincare routine (from left to right). I usually use oils to cleanse and moisturise my skin, but I'm extra fond of oils during the dry winter months. Many of these products I've re-bought and some only have a few drops left. I'm currently testing a few new products that I've been loving but those will be featured soon in separate reviews but for now here's what I use day to day. I've reviewed most of them so you can click on the links to find out more!

♡ Balm Balm Rose Geranium Face Balm
♡ Balm Balm Rose Water Hydrosol
♡ Esse Body Oil

What products are you using this winter?

REVIEW: Esse Refining Cleanser

New Product from Esse

Hi everyone!

I've been using this Refining Cleanser from Esse for the past few weeks and I have really been enjoying it! I'm a big fan of Esse because they are a certified organic; Trade Fair; Vegan and Cruelty Free brand and I love all their products that I've used so far such as the Eye Make Up Remover and the Gel Cleanser. Here's some more information on this new cleanser from Esse:

- It's a light foaming clay that detoxifies your skin while cleansing it
- It's made from bentonite clay that gently exfoliates your skin
- It also contains Kalahari Melon Oil which adds Omega 6 essential fatty acids to your skin

Here's my personal opinion on the product:

- When I first tried it, I wasn't expecting it to be so thick. It felt more like a mask than a cleanser but after I used it a few times I got used to the thick consistency.
- It's a very gentle exfoliator but I only exfoliate about once a week so I use this product about every 2 or 3 nights. Also, with the change of season I've been suffering from dry skin and the bentonite clay I find dries out my skin a bit so that's why I alternate between cleansers (I think if you have oily skin, it would be perfect to use daily).
- This product is great for those "lazy" days when you just want to use minimal products in your skincare routine. Some nights I remove my eye make-up; use this cleanser and then use a serum - easy peasy in 3 steps!

This cleanser retails at R190 for 150ml and you can check out the esse website for stockists.

Have you used any Esse products before? What's your favourite?

REVIEW: Esse Gel Cleanser

Gel Cleanser from Esse

I was recently sent this gel cleanser by the fab ladies at Esse and was so excited to try it out! I'm a huge fan of their Eye Make-Up Remover so I was looking forward to testing their cleanser.

First of all, I love the peppermint & spearmint oils - hello freshness! It's smells divine and leaves your skin feeling awakened and invigorated! It's one of the reasons why I love using it in the morning! It's also infused with Rooibos & Honeybush Extracts which have strong anti-oxidant properties. Another feature I love about this cleanser is that it foams, I've become so used to cream and oil cleansers that I forgot how good it felt to have a foaming cleanser.

It doesn't leave your skin feeling dry after cleansing, which is a major factor for me with regards to facial cleansers.

Esse packages all their products in glass packaging which is so important! Glass packaging is much healthier and can be 100% recycled! 99% of the total ingredients are from natural origin and 71% of the total ingredients are from Organic Farming!
