[LIFE]: Hello 2016

Ringing In The New Year With Positive Vibes

Well hello there 2016, you beautiful thing!

A few weeks ago, my group of girlfriends and I went through our "highs and lows" of 2015. It saddens me to say that unfortunately my list of lows was longer than my list of highs. While I was still blessed in many aspects of my life, it was a difficult year that brought many changes.

However, with change, comes growth and that is my intention for this year - growth.

Some New Years resolutions are just unattainable like "I want to lose 20kgs by February", no no. This year of growth means doing what is best for myself and while that includes looking after my health, I would like to focus on how to become the best I can be.

I love writing lists, so these lists are now going to include daily goals. I want to read more, making time to read and relax is so important. I want to learn to let go and not let my anxiety and OCD tendencies get in the way of growing. Decreasing clutter and getting rid of the unnecessary has something I started last month already.

Believing that anything is possible.

Growth.

Many blessings for the year ahead to you all!

STYLE: 2015 / 20 - FITNESS

Outfit Post

Hi everyone!

It's that time again, when Team CassRina gets together for another style post! Both Irina and I were lucky enough to get an awesome pair of Nike trainers for Christmas from our families. I actually quite enjoy working out and about three times a week I work out with my personal trainer who has taught me so much! Now, if only I could stop loving all those cakes so much :/

It's a new year and a new chance to achieve all your health goals!

Workout clothing is really important to me because if I feel good in what I'm wearing, I'm more likely to work harder at the gym instead of feeling self conscious about what I'm wearing. My favourite brands for gym clothes are Nike and Cotton On Body (especially when their items are on sale!).

What I'm wearing:
Shoes: Nike
Top: Cotton On Body
Pants: Cotton On Body
Sunglasses: Rayban
Nails: Tiptop in Sherbet Angel
Bottle: Consol

What Irina is Wearing:
Shoes: Nike
Top: Cotton On
Pants: JT One (Woolworths)
Weights: Mr Price Sport
Yoga Mat: 3rd Planet Yoga
Sunglasses: Marc Jacobs

What's your favourite brand of gym clothes?
Don't forget to check out Irina's blog filled with gorgeous fashion and amazing beauty products - I'll Take It All

PS: what do you think of the Team CassRina collab? Want to see more of us together?

Love Always, The Glam Green Girl xXx

NOTE: Day 181 of 365

Chapter 6
Day 181

Hi Beautiful!

Um is it just me or is it utter madness to think that the first half of 2014 is already over?
Woah!

Hmmm the month of June wasn't the best for me, but when I look back on what I achieved during this month I wonder why I feel like that? I donated a whole car full of goodies to the Jacaranda Children's Home as well as to the SPCA: I planted some trees; I attended some events as The Glam Green Girl; I celebrated special times in friends' lives such as kitchen teas and bridal showers; I even managed to sneak in a long weekend in Zambia and above all, I celebrated my blog's third birthday!

I guess because the past few weeks have been so busy I've been feeling overwhelmed, plus it doesn't help that I'm recovering from a nasty case of the flu but I'm trying to change my mindset for the new month that's upon us in a few hours. Seeing as though today is a Monday, and it's almost the start of spring (well still 2 months but hey, who's counting haha) I'm focusing on my health but stayed tuned for some new posts on that!

Even though I truly aspire to inspire, I myself sometimes don't feel the positive vibes but it's all about mindset and I've started new lists, new goals etc for July - it will be a good month!

How did June treat you? What was the most exciting aspect of the month for you? You can vent, boast, moan, brag ~ anything you want! Looking forward to hearing from you!

Love always, The Glam Green Girl xXx

NOTE: Day 120 of 365

Day 120
Chapter 4

Hi everyone,

Wow April has been an incredible journey and if it's any indication of what's to come, I say "bring it on!".At the beginning of the month I attended the launch of the darling brand 27Pinkx at the utterly fabulous Saxon Hotel in Johannesburg. This cruelty free brand is all about make up storage, make up and all things pink!

And in terms of super exciting news, about two weeks ago I found out I had made it to the next round of Miss Earth South Africa and have qualified as a semi-finalist in the programme. I'm so excited to start my journey as an environmental advocate and help spread the Miss Earth LOVE!

I spent the Easter weekend in Zambia and you can read more about that here - it really was a great trip (as usual!).

And some more exciting news: I won  Greenpop's blogger competition of 'Who Wants To Be a Tree-illoniare' as the blogger who managed to raise the most trees! A huge THANK YOU to everyone that supported me and donated to the awesome "Trees for Zambia" cause! You rock! I'm so excited to be heading up to Livingstone at the end of June as I've never been there before and I'll get to plant trees; paint murals; educate kids and make lots of new friends - plus I'll get to go see The Victoria Falls which I'm totally freaking out with excitement about! Please join if you can! You can read more about "Trees for Zambia" here

I started these "Day xx of 365" posts as a way of looking back on what's been accomplished in the month and as a way of my readers reflecting on whether they are sticking to their 2014 resolutions or not- so I'd love to know how April was for you? Anything exciting happen? Did you manage to challenge yourself and go for one of your goals?

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Hello Health: Just Get Moving

Just Be Active

I mentioned a few week ago in my latest "Day xx of 265" post that I had torn the muscle off my leg due to a fall whilst I was in Zambia, and it turns out that I've even damaged the ligament as well *booooo*. In the past few months I had really been getting into a proper gym routine and was even working with a trainer and then I got totally derailed by the news that it would take 6-12 weeks for my leg to heal. It sucks, I won't lie and  I'm in pain most days but that didn't mean that I should stop being active! For the past 5 weeks I've still been working with my trainer but we just work on my upper body and I'm slowly incorporating cycling into my routine and doing the exercises that my physiotherapist suggested. What I'm trying to get to is that any exercise is better than no exercise!  Running on the treadmill and not getting to your goal distance? So what, at least you're still trying! High five to you!

For me, exercise is not only about being fit and skinny (ok that is my dream haha) but it's about dedicating time each few days to improving my health - mentally and physically!

So this week, take some time out to visit your local gym, take a walk around the block or to my lucky readers who live near the coast, take a bike ride (and I mean bicycle, not motorbike) down to the promenade and walk around for a bit.

What do you do to stay active?

NOTE: Day 59 of 365

Chapter 2
Day 59

Hi my lovelies,

I received such positive feedback from my first post of the "Day xx of 365" series I started last month when I published my Day 31 of 365 post - thank you all so much. It's definitely made me want to continue this series.

Anyways moving on, as I mentioned in my Day 31 of 365 post - this series is about reflecting back on the past month. Seeing as though February was only 28 days, it felt like it flew by!

I will 100% honest with you, February was a very hard month for me but I also accomplished a lot which is what these posts are really about, stop dwelling on the bad and think about all the good that has came about in one month.

I went through a lot of emotional drama this month but it was an issue that I needed to deal with and I said what I needed to say. I also had to say goodbye to one of my beloved dogs who was fighting with my other female dog. It was a hard decision but my family and I agreed that we would rather want to two happy dogs living apart then having them fight all the time. I love my dogs so much so I've been very heart sore but I know its best! I'm even sad just typing this :( I would like to say a very BIG thank you to everyone that helped during this difficult time - you know who you are and you know how much it means to me!

Penelope, my baby xXx

But even though February had some tough times, I've managed to accomplish some of my goals. I've been working hard at the gym more and have surprisingly enough, been loving it! I also went after one of my dreams, something I will hopefully be able to reveal to you soon! I had always wanted to do it and I'm so glad I have!

One of my highlights from this month was an amazing photo shoot I did with the very talented Zenia from Zenia Smit Photography - you can check out her facebook page for some of the pics. Should I upload some of them?

So yes, I am definitely looking forward to March, there are so many exciting events lined up for me and I can't wait to tackle them all!

How was your month? Did you achieve one of your goals? Any highlights of Feb?

NOTE: Day 31 of 365

Chapter 1
Day 31

Hi lovelies,

I've decided to start a new series on my blog "Day xx of 365" as a way of looking back on what I've accomplished and as a way of setting new goals for each month. I believe in small steps instead of huge, overwhelming goals.

It's the last day of January! I feel like it was a week ago that I was welcoming in the New Year with my family and now 1 month of 2014 is already gone! I went from being so sick last month and not doing anything apart from being bed bound to being so busy that I look forward to moments when I can just take a breath.

January has proved to be a successful month in turns of trying new things and overcoming my fears. It may sound so silly but I get self conscious at the gym so I don't like going to the classes by myself but just this week I went to one all by myself *pat myself on the back quickly*. Small things like that help me to become more confident in all that I do. I've also decided to go ahead and work hard for some of my dreams, certain programs I want to attend etc. If all goes well, I can reveal what it's all about soon.

Everyone always has their lists of resolutions at the beginning of the year so I thought a monthly check in would be a great idea to check that we're all on track with what we want from 2014.

And yes, I have been sticking to my word and been trying to live a life of YOLO and taking chances

What goals have you accomplished this month so far? Any thing amazing happen? Let me know - I'd love to hear from you!

NOTE: 2014

Well Hello There 2014!

Hi my dear Glam and Green readers!
Happy New Year!

I'm sorry I've been so quite lately, I've been so terribly ill *boo* I had German Measles for over two weeks and it led to me being in hospital and now trying to fight off a chest infection - gosh the past few weeks have been difficult but I would just like to say a BIG thank you to everyone for all their love and concern these past two weeks - I'm so lucky to have you all in my life!

However, moving on to better things, I'm so happy that 2013 is over and I truly welcomed 2014 in with open arms. I'm always so excited for a new year but I really feel good about this year and where it's going to take me!

This year I've decided instead of the usual lose weight; give up this; give up that resolutions I'm going to try something a little more different. Don't get me wrong, I will be aiming to lose weight and work on my fitness and try to do well in all aspects of my life but instead of having 500 goals I'm going to make this the year of saying YES, the year of taking chances, the year of doing things I've never done before and taking those leaps of faith!

I know its so cliche and so 2013 but I'm going to take the motto of YOLO to heart! You really do only live once and whenever I have doubts or fears about doing something, I'm going to remind myself of what I've decided my 2014 will be like ~ YOLO!

Images: Pinterest

So that's how I'm starting my new year, how about you? What are you going to be doing that's different this year?

Thank you so much for all your support in 2013, I so appreciate it and I can't wait to grow with you this year! Here's to an amazing year for us all!

Hello June

It's a new month!

Can you believe we are halfway through 2013 already? June has arrived!

While June marks the start of winter (and me counting down to summer already), its also The Glam Green Girl's 2nd birthday this month *yay*! I will be posting a competition soon where you can win a hamper of a few of my favourite things!

Since it's a Monday and the start of a new month, why not set yourself some new goals to achieve this month? For example: read a book; make your gym sessions 15 minutes longer this month; collect blankets for those who need it this winter; make more time for yourself and those you care for!

I hope everyone has a wonderful month - may June be one of the best one's yet!

Let me know what goals you are setting for yourself this month?
