[REVIEW]: Illuminating Skin Finish - Vita Liberata

Organic Illuminating Skin Finish Cream in Latte Light from Vita Liberata

Tanned skin without sun exposure is vital for youthful looking skin, but it is also great to have a glow all year round. I'm often outdoors and while I love being outside, I always protect my face no matter what. This often leads me to having a paler face compared to the rest of my body (which is also always slathered in sunscreen).

Vita Liberata is an organic luxury self-tan brand that offers spray tans and tanning products for at home. I went for one of these spray tans last year and it looked amazing but their is a certain ingredient in self tan that I'm allergic too and I broke out in a rash. I've tested out a few self tan products and I have the same reaction :(

When I received this BB cream, I was nervous that it would have the same reaction on my face that most self tanners have on my body. I applied a small amount on the inside of my arm to test for an allergic reaction and am happy to report that after applying it a few times to my face, I've haven't reacted badly to it!

This BB Cream can even be applied to arms, neck and decollete area to enhance that summer glow. It gives a soft, dewy finish to you skin but doesn't offer that much coverage. That being said, while attending pool parties and summer nights out, you don't really want to be wearing a cake face of make up so it's perfect to give you that summer glow. It even contains small shimmer particles which help 'capture the light'.

Another bonus with this BB cream is that it has SPF 25!

Use a small amount and remember to blend, blend, blend!

This product retails for R825.00 (hefty price tag, I know!) and can be bought online here - Faithful-To-Nature also stocks Vita Liberata products and are currently having a sale on some!

Have you tried this luxury organic self tan brand?

STYLE: River Island Pool Glam

Outfit Post

Hi beautiful people!

I bought this beautiful bikini top last year when River Island opened at Rosebank and I was completely obsessed with it, I still am actually. There was a matching bikini bottom but I didn't buy it because a) it was quite expensive and b) it was just too much for me as the top is quite distracting enough already. So I now pair this with a plain black bikini bottom.

Where's better to show off this bikini than on a roof top pool in beautiful Cape Town?

REVIEW: SKNLogic Protect SPF30

Sunscreen from SKNLogic - Protect SPF30

Hi Beauties!

Being the summer baby that I am, I always make sure to wear a lot of sunscreen when I'm outside. While having a tan is nice, I believe well-cared for and looked after skin is much better in the long run.

The ladies from Freebees sent me this sunscreen to test out as they know I'm always on the lookout for exciting natural products, especially ones for summer.

Here's what this sunscreen contains:

♥ Titanium Dioxide - a natural UV light reflectant
♥ Vitamin E - protects the skin and assists in maintaining the skin's oil balance
♥ Zinc Oxide - Protects the skin from the sun and helps the skin to heal
♥ Vitamin C - Significant anti-oxidant and healing properties and helps increase collagen production
♥ Raspberry Extracts - promotes cell renewal; increases collagen production; improves skin elasticity and helps heal the skin.

So what are my thoughts on this sunscreen? Well to honest with you, I'm not a huge fan of natural sunscreens as I hate the thickness of them. When I'm out on the boat in Zambia I love an easy and light sunscreen but while I was in Cape Town I used this one and it worked well to protect my skin while I was sitting by the pool. I like the fact that it contains raspberry extracts as it's so good for your skin. Out of all the natural sunscreens I've tested this one has been the best for me so far.

This sunscreen does not contain parabens; sulphates; synthetic fragrance; synthetic colourants; lanolin derivatives; mineral oils or MIT's.

Sunscreen is so expensive these days (which I think is ridiculous as it's something we need to use everyday) but this one from SKNLogic is affordable at R111 for 75ml - you can find it here.

What do you think of natural sunscreens?

REVIEW: Dynamic Skin Recovery SPF 50

Age Smart - Dynamic Skin Recovery SPF 50 by Dermalogica

Hi Beauties!

Zambia, my second home and the place you'll find me every 6 weeks or so, the place where it's pretty much summer all year round! So what's the first thing I pack for Zambia - it used to be my bikini but now I grab this Dynamic Skin Recovery face cream first!

Dermalogica is cruelty free and I knew it had to be a great brand when I saw photos of it on My Beauty Bunny's instagram account. I even named this product as one of my favourites for September!

This light weight daily cream contains an SPF 50 and is easily absorbed into skin. It helps to defend against internal and external cause of skin ageing; is hydrating and contains ingredients such as Yeast Extract help to promote skin firmness. This daily cream is formulated without any artificial colours or fragrances and like I mentioned before, is cruelty free.

I love how easily this cream blends into my skin, so when I apply it to my skin and hop onto the boat I don't feel like I have a thick sunscreen on my face. The fact that it acts like a day cream yet has such a high sun protection factor really impresses me and I can't express how much I like this product!

The only thing I dislike about this product is the hefty price tag :/ it's R990 for 50ml but in it's defence, you only need a small amount everyday so it should last you a while. Guess I won't be sharing this with anyone else on the boat anytime soon haha! For more information on Dermalogica, click here.

What's your favourite Dermalogica product?

ZAMBIA: March 2014

The Beautiful Zambezi River

Hi lovelies,

I've just come back from 9 amazing days on the Zambezi River in Zambia and wanted to share some of my snaps with you! I can't believe this miserable weather that we're having in Pretoria, I definitely am missing the hot (and I mean HOT) weather that we had whilst in Zambia.

From the 1st of December to the 1st of March, Zambia closes it's side of the Zambezi River to fishing. This is a wonderful initiative that helps the Tiger Fish to repopulate. Unfortunately the Zimbabwean side is still open but at least every little bit helps. Another rule along the Zambian side of the Zambezi River is, you have comply with the "catch and release" rules, so all Tiger Fish are released as soon as we've caught them.  I was lucky enough to be there for the opening of the season and fished in the competition with my dad, we came 3rd place yay!

I had an amazing time, it was so wonderful to spend time with my Zambian friends and to be on the utterly majestic Zambezi River surrounded by the exquisite nature that Africa has been blessed with. 2 of our family friends even got engaged (congrats Gary & Dianna),I caught a tiger fish worthy of a trophy in my books haha and I got to relax and unwind after a hectic few weeks.

The view outside my tented chalet

Having a spit braai to celebrate the opening of the fishing season

How gorgeous does the sky look after a heavy storm?

A rainbow!

The sun setting after a huge storm

"Just like the rains down in Africa" - admit it, you sang that part right now!

Beautiful sunset

We went upstream the one day to C camp, so beautiful

Making a braai on the sandbank

Ah its a cookie monster cloud! Can you see the face?

Another day, another braai along the River

My Tiger Fish! YAY! Don't worry, as I mentioned before, after weighing this big boy we released him back into the River and watched him swim merrily away

Even the elephants came to watch me catch a fish ;)

So my first trip back to Zambia for 2014 was definitely a winner, I feel like each time I go it just gets better and better, and I definitely leave a small piece of my heart in Zambia with every trip.

Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoyed this post!
Look out for some new reviews and tips coming up in the next few weeks.

Travel Essentials

My Top Travel Essentials

"Wanderlust" - a very strong desire or impulse to travel

I am utterly consumed by wanderlust, each day a new city; a new country; a new island is added to my bucket list. I am extremely blessed with the fact that I get to travel to Zambia quite a few times a year. Seeing as though I travel so often, I must say I've become a little bit of a pro when it comings to packing. However, sometimes my blondness gets to me and I might forget something and  when I'm in Zambia there aren't many shops by the Zambezi River oops!

These are a few of my traveling essentials. Since I'm a sun loving summer baby, I usually travel somewhere that involves a river; beach or pool so my traveling essentials are all summer based.

1. Rayban Aviators (Polarized) from Sunglass Hut
2. Basil & Lemongrass Mosquito Repellent Body Lotion from The Victorian Garden
3. Fake Out Mascara from Physicians Formula
4. Tinted Mineral Moisturiser from Juice Beauty
5. Lemon Drop Lip Balm from EOS
6. Rose Water Hydrosol from Balm Balm
7. Sport SPF 40 Sunscreen from SunUmbra
8. Earphones from Forever New
9. Bikini from Roxstar

I've already reviewed the Basil & Lemongrass Mosquito Repellent Body Lotion; the Fake Out Mascara and the Sport SPF40 Sunscreen so here's a bit more information on the other products I've mentioned as my travel essentials:

Polarized Rayban Aviators from Sunglass Hut

For Christmas 2012, I got my first pair of Raybans and was immediately hooked. I knew I couldn't go back to my cheap sunnies after being spoilt by the amazing Rayban lenses. Unfortunately in December 2013 while I was in Kariba, a wave pretty much stole them off my face haha! I got money for Christmas 2013 and decided to wait for the Sunglass Hut sale. I managed to get these babies for a really great price, they are polarized and they can fold up into half of the shape so they are perfect for traveling! Also, the aviator shape is so classic so I know these will never go out of style. I love my Rayban Aviators!

EOS Lemon Drop Lip Balm

A friend of mine went to Au Pair in America and when she returned and was unpacking her bag I totally freaked out because I saw she had some EOS lip balms with her. She very kindly gave me the Lemon Drop one and I am completely obsessed with it! I use it all day, before I go to gym, when I wake up, before I go to bed, it's pretty much with me all the time. What's so great about this one is that it has SPF 15 in it so it's perfect for being outdoors. I will be doing a full review on the EOS lip balms soon!

Earphones from Forever New

Can we just take a minute and admire how beautiful these earphones are? My brother's girlfriend bought these beauties for me for Christmas and I still to this day can't get over how fabulous they are! I love listening to music on long journey's so these are perfect for keeping me glam while I travel!

Rose Water Hydrosol from Balm Balm

This product is pretty much the holy grail of travel products for me! Yes, I am that serious! I decant this product into a travel approved sized bottle and carry it in my hand luggage. I always feel like my skin gets so dry on the plane so I spritz this during and after my flight and it keeps my skin hydrated and fresh. I also like to spray it after a long day in the sun as it is invigorating and helps lock the nutrients in my skin. It's also a dual purpose product as it can be used to remove those last traces of make up and as a toner!

USA flag bikini from Roxstar

As I mentioned, I'm 99% of the time near water so a bikini is a staple in my travel wardrobe. I got this at the end of last year and I love love love this bikini! I'm pretty much obsessed with bikini's so I buy them quite often and therefore get to  pack quite a few each time I travel. I have a few 'safe' bikinis that I always pack and then often a few of my new ones. But seriously, how cute is this bikini?

A travel tip that I've recently learn't from my mom is, always carry a face cloth in your hand bag or hand luggage when you travel. Often when you stop at restrooms, there aren't paper towels etc so its great to keep one in your bag in a plastic bag for clean dry hands!

What are some of your travel essentials? Any that I mentioned?
