[ECO]: Easy Ways To Go Green in 2016

With 2016  rocking and rolling for everyone already, what's a better time to start being green than now?

While going green is a process, these are a few easy steps you can take on your journey of being more eco-friendly.

Switch your light bulbs to energy saving Compact fluorescent lightbulbs - they use about one 1/3 of electricity and last 10 times longer.

♥ Switch off wall sockets when not in use as they draw a lot of "phantom/vampire" energy while not in use.

♥ Stepping away from your computer for more than 20 minutes? Switch it to "sleep mode" and make sure to power off at the end of the day.

♥ Switch off the tap while brushing your teeth and make sure to have leaking taps fixed.

♥ Plant a tree

♥Start your own vegetable garden

♥  Print on both sides of paper and try go as electronic as possible in terms of documents etc

♥ When buying new beauty products, do your research to find out whether they are cruelty-free or not

♥ Buy local foods, this provides jobs for your community and saves on transport costs.

♥ RECYCLE - REUSE - REDUCE

[ECO]: Reuse Coffee Grounds

Reusing Your Coffee Grounds

I love a good cup of Joe as much as the next person, but have you ever thought about what you can do with the leftover coffee grounds after your demolished your morning wake-up pot?

Here is what you can do with with your coffee grounds:

♥ Add them to your compost pile (also helps get rid of the smell of the compost)
♥ Scatter the coffee grounds around plants that are being attacked by snails and slugs
♥ Deodorize your bins by adding some to an old pantyhose and tying it around the lid.
♥ Get rid of odors in our fridge by adding some to a bowl and leaving it in your fridge for a few weeks
♥ Fertilize your soil or put some in a spray bottle with water when gardening
♥ Add a small amount to chocolate baked goods to add extra flavour
♥ Scrub your pots and pans gently with some coffee grounds and a sponge
♥ Create a scrub for your body (Great for treating those cellulite areas)

[EVENT]: Planting in Thembisa

Onion Planting in Thembisa with I'MPossible

On Thursday the 30th of April, I joined the I'MPossible crew to plant some onions for the Thembisa community. We demonstrated how you can plant vegetables even if you don't have a garden by reusing mealie meal bags! We also got to help the community harvest the cabbage and spinach they had already grown.

You can read more about what my ambassadorship with I'MPossible here. I'm so looking forward to the next projects we'll be doing, I'm make sure to keep you all in the loop! I'll also let you know when the episodes air in Tshwane TV!

[NOTE]: I'MPossible Ambassador

Exciting Announcement

I'm thrilled to announce that I am now a I'MPossible ambassador! So what is I'MPossible? Well they do what their slogan says, "make things possible"! They partner with different companies to try and help those that are disadvantaged, for example, they work with the ACFS (African Children Feeding Scheme) - an organisation that focuses on educating and feeding children in different communities.

Through working with I'MPossible I will be able to go after the projects that I've started working on with much more force. As you know, trees in Zambia and the Platbos Forest are very important to me as well as the Elephant Orphanage in Zambia so I will be able to use I'MPossible as a platform to work more with these organisations. I also cannot wait to start on some new projects that will help spread the word of going green!

Yesterday we planted some vegetables at a school in Naledi, Soweto and gave monthly food packages to the families of the community. We also filmed a segment explaining what we were planting to help inform the communities on planting vegetables. This will be aired on Tshwane TV (DSTV channel 262) but I will hopefully be able to share the episodes on my YouTube Channel.

Here are some photos from yesterdays event:

I'm so looking forward to haring more exciting projects with you!
Thank you all for your support!
