[REVIEW]: GLÜKi Organics

Organic Products for Mothers & Babies from GLÜKi

Meet part of the GLÜKi family, which is perfect for the whole family! Made from high quality, plant based ingredients, and certified by ECOCERT Greenlife France, the GLÜKi product range is specifically made for mothers and babies, but as mentioned, can be used by the whole family.

The GLÜKi Organic Hand Wash helps keep germs at bay with ingredients such as orange peel oil, a proven antimicrobial, and aloe vera, known for its antiseptic qualities. It also contains Marula Oil which helps keep hands nourished. Great to have in the kitchen for the whole family to use.

This handwash retails for R139.00 (200ml) and can be bought here

This Lip Balm has less of a balmy consistency and is more like a lip cream in my opinion. It's easy to pop in your handbag but I prefer to use it at night. Containing organic shea oil, mafura seed butter, aloe vera extract and rooibos leaf extract, it nourishes lips leaves them feeling soft and hydrated.

This organic Lip Balm retails for R139.00 and can be bought here

Perfect for those with scars and stretch marks, this Organic Tissue Oil contains Organic Jojoba oil which helps maintain and restore your skins elasticity, moisture and tone. It also contains Marula seed oil which is easily absorbed and contains high proportions of oleic acid and linoleic fatty acid which is high in natural antioxidants and has been shown to improve skin hydration and smoothness, and reduce redness.

This Tissue Oil retails for R149.00 (50ml) and can be bought here .

A personal favourite of mine from this range, the Hand & Body Moisturising Lotion contains Orange Peel Oil which hydrates your skin but isn't too rich. It also contains Organic Kalahari Melon seed oil which moisturises, regenerates and restructures skin.

This lotion retails for R149.00 (100ml) and can be bought here

You can view more of the range on the Faithful To Nature website

Now you're all sorted the next time you need to buy a baby shower gift!

[REVIEW]: Pure Beginnings Body Lotion & Body Wash

Revitalising Body Wash & Hydrating Body Lotion from Pure Beginnings

Pure Beginnings is one of South Africa's skincare brands that helps you skin your skin as pure as when you were born. They use organically formulated ingredients that are non toxic and don't cause your skin or the environment any harm! They are also certified with Beauty Without Cruelty and have just been certified as the first South African Baby & Kids line that is organic with the internationally recognised organic certification organisation called Ecocert! How cool is that!

They have also relaunched their adult hair and body care line and I got to test the Body Wash & Body Lotion.

Here are my thoughts:

The Hydrating Body Lotion with Organic Coconut & Kigelia is a nourishing yet light body lotion. It's perfect for in the day as it isn't too rich and still keeps your skin moisturised throughout the day. It doesn't have a heavy scent and is packed with anti-oxidants for your skin from ingredients such as Marula Oil and Kigelia. It even contains Coconut Oil which helps hydrate your skin. This light and non-greasy body lotion has become part of my daily routine!

When I first read that this Revitalising Body Wash with Organic Baobab & Ylang Ylang contained Ylang Ylang I was looking forward to trying it out as I'm a fan of the scent but the citrus and baobab scent comes out stronger in the body wash. Nevertheless, the scent is refreshing during shower time and this body wash is SLS free and has Baobab fruit extracts infused in it which helps keep your skin healthy while cleansing it.

The body lotion retails for R76.00 and the body wash is R65.00 and both are available on the Pure Beginnings website.

REVIEW: Marula Shampoo & Conditioner

Africa Organics Marula Shampoo & Conditioner

Hi beauties!

Today's review is a gush and gripe one! One like and one dislike :/
I'm a huge fan of the natural & organic brand Africa Organics so I was excited when I received these products to test out but unfortunately I'm not this biggest fan of this hair care range.

Let me start with the not-so-good and then move onto the good!

Applying conditioner is one of my favourite parts of my hair care routine, I just love how silky your hair feels after you've rinsed it out. This unfortunately was not the case after I used this conditioner, my hair was left feeling dry and tangled :( When I read a few reviews, it seemed like I wasn't the only one. It contains such great ingredients but it's just not suited for my hair.

Moving on though...

Despite not being impressed by the Marula conditioner, the shampoo was a different story. This Marula Shampoo smells amazing - a fresh and uplifting scent thanks to the added mint oil. It contains Marula to prevent breakage and Rooibos as an anti-oxidant. It lathers well but doesn't strip your hair thanks to the natural, biodegradable foaming agents.

While I may not recommend purchasing the Marula Conditioner, I do recommend that you buy the Marula Shampoo because not only is it ecological, it is also economical - you can get it from Faithful-To-Nature for only R44.00 for 200ml or just R13 for the travel size of 40ml!

Have you tried this hair care range? I'll be testing out the Mongogo range from Africa Organics soon so holding thumbs the conditioner is better!

REVIEW: Conditioning Lip Colour

Conditioning Lip Colour in Pink from Juice Beauty

Hi beauties!

My first beauty review for 2015 is on one of my favourite organic beauty brands, Juice Beauty. Here is the link to the tinted moisturiser I reviewed last year and more about the brand.

I received this Conditioning Lip Colour as a birthday gift from Rubybox after I posted it on my birthday wishlist - lucky girl right? It's the perfect everyday colour!

The combination of anti-oxidant acai & goji berries; sweet orange; jojoba seed oil; organic sesame seed oil; organic beeswax and other oils leaves your lips feeling conditioned and nourished. No parabens; artificial dyes or fragrances or any other nasty ingredients means that not only will your lips look good after applying this lip colour but will also feel good as it's all natural!

A natural pink that's perfect for an everyday look!

You can shop for yours here.

Do you have an Juice Beauty products you love? What do you think of this colour?

GGG Tip: Eucalyptus Oil

Using Eucalyptus Oil for Colds & Flu

Hi friends!

So since I was in Zambia last weekend, I've been so sick with flu - it's really kicked my butt! Although I didn't want to, I've eventually ended up on antibiotics to try clear it. One of the symptoms I've been suffering the most with is congestion (deep wheezy breathe in, deep wheezy breathe out) but I'v been using Eucalyptus Oil to try relieve some of my blocked up congestion.

One of the tips I learnt about using Eucalyptus Oil for colds and flu is to sprinkle a few drops on the shower floor and this then acts as a steam inhalation! I'm not going to lie to you, I pretty much pour about half of the bottle on the floor as I'm so desperate at the moment but after my shower I can breathe a bit easier. Another tip for using Eucalyptus Oil, is to add a few drops to your bath! For more tips check out this post on Autumn Care.

You can get Organic Eucalyptus Oil from SOil from Faithful To Nature for R25 or your local Clicks should stock some too. Faithful To Nature  also has a few more tips on how to use Eucalyptus Oil as a decongestant.

Hope this tip helps for those of you that are all blocked up!

Love always, The Glam Green Girl xXx

A Few Simple Tips

Hi there my green darlings!

It's a new month, a new week and it's National Environmental week here in South Africa! So what better time to start making changes in your lifestyle to become more green!

Here are a few tips on how to play your part in saving the environment:

Switch off all lights before leaving the house
Unplug all unnecessary electrical appliances when not in use ~ After I've done my hair in the morning, I always switch off the plug that I use for my hair styling tools, every little bit helps!
♡ Unplug your cellphone charger when you're not using it
♡ Reuse magazines & newspaper as wrapping paper
♡ Switch off the tap when brushing your teeth
♡ Try cut your shower time by 1 minute, you will save 3300 litres of water a year
♡ Wait until your dishwasher is fully loaded before running it
♡ Need a new light bulb? Replace it with a compact fluorescent bulb
♡ Buy local - food, clothes, beauty products etc
♡ Love to buy a coffee every morning? Take your own cup!
♡ Donate your unwanted clothes to a charity or organise a clothes swap with friends
♡ Choose paper less billing for your accounts
♡ Find out about recycling collections in your area and start a recycling program at home
♡ Change a small area of your garden to a vegetable garden and grow your own food
♡ Support brands that are cruelty free

Not too hard right?
Lets GO GREEN!

GGG Tip: Lavender

A Tip For The Use of Lavender Oil

Inspired by Day 6 of the SuperGorgeous May Photo Challenge on something purple I decided to share one of my natural beauty tips about using Lavender. Many people associate lavender with relaxation and tranquility but did you know that lavender oil can help heal minor burns?

As someone who loves beauty and thus loves a curling wand or hair iron, I've had my fair share of accidents when it comes to burning my fingers (or the one time I even burnt my forehead haha), when one of these unfortunate incidents occurs, I immediately apply a few drops of lavender oil to the burn and it works wonders! Lavender has so many healing benefits and is a natural way of treating your burns or scratches! If you don't have any lavender oil on hand but have the actual flowers, you can crush a few up and apply it to the wound and cover it with gauze (do allow your skin to breathe every now and then though).

Pretty amazing right?

Hope this tip helps!
