Empties Post

This is the first empties post I've written and I know they are usually quite a favourite among readers as bloggers can give their opinions on whether or not the product is worth repurchasing. These are the products that have just finished in my beauty stash and I wanted to share what I thought of all of them. 

The Body Shop - Camomile Gentle Eye Make Up Remover

I bought this travel sized make up remover from The Body Shop when I was at the airport last year as I wanted to try out a new eye make up remover and I loved the size of the bottle. It's gentle on your eyes and works well to remove eye make up. It's suitable for sensitive skin and for those of you that also wear contact lenses like myself.

Would I repurchase this product? Yes, I would but I first want to try the Camomile Waterproof Eye and Lip Make Up Remover next.

Catrice Prime and Fine Translucent Loose Powder

I've had this powder in my make up collection for quite a while now as I'm always testing out different powders but I'm really a fan of this one, it never lets me down!

Would I repurchase this product? Yes, definitely! Its a bargain!

LA Girl Pro Conceal HD Concealer

This is my favourite concealer! It gives great coverage and is so affordable! Applies easily and great to pop into your handbag.

Would I repurchase this product? Yep, already have!

Essence Lash Princess False Lash Effect Mascara

I've actually repurchased this mascara twice already! I'm such a fan! It gives my lashes volume and length!

[BEAUTY]: Face Prep

Face Prep & Prime

When it comes to applying make up, every girl has their own routines. Now as a beauty blogger and as someone who loves make up, I have to admit that I was never into using a primer. I didn't see the need for it. 

I used to think it was only for 'erasing' or 'blurring' your pores until I read this post by Lipgloss Kisses where Chicara speaks about how primers help to not only apply your make up with a more 'flawless' effect but also helps keep it on!

I've now added two steps to my make up routine. I first apply the LA Girl Pro Prep HD smoothing face primer and then the Catrice Prime and Fine Anti-Redness Base under my eyes. 

First up, the LA Girl Pro Smoothing Face Primer.
This primer is cruelty free; paraben free and fragrance free. Since it's from LA Girl, it's very affordable. It's lightweight and applies easily to my skin. It doesn't feel greasy and I was really impressed with it as the first primer I've tried. I can say I will definitely be repurchasing this primer again. I do however, also want to try The Body Shop's All In One - Instablur Primer as I've heard great things about it!

After I've applied my primer, I then use the Catrice Prime and Fine Anti-Redness Base under my eyes and sometimes along my rose. This is for those dreaded bags and skin imperfections under my eyes. This primer is has a green tint to it which neutralizes redness.

Gold Make Up Look for New Years Eve

So 2015 is coming to an end - can you believe it? 

On Wednesday I'm heading to St Francis (I've never been there) for 3 nights to celebrate New Years Eve with some friends. I wanted to do a beachy, golden look for my New Years Eve make up - my way of embracing the summer glow!

[REVIEW]: LA Girl Glazed Lip Paint

Glazed Lip Paints and Swatches from LA Girl

Like I've mentioned in previous LA Girl posts, this brand has become one of my favs! Too be honest though, these Glazed Lip Paints really caught my eye because they looked like dupes to the Too Faced Melted Liquid Lipsticks . I've never tried them, but the packaging looks the same (oh how I wish we had Too Faced in South Africa!)

These liquid lipsticks are highly pigmented and the colour stays the whole day (that's a huge bonus in my eyes). While these lip paints give you colour like you're applying a lipstick, it gives the glossy finish of a lipgloss. 

Other then the pigmented glossy finish and staying power, another reason I've been enjoying these lip paints is the peppermint oil they contain. Gives your lips a cooling effect plus they have Vitamin E so it helps keep your lips nourished. 

These Lip Paints have a tip applicator to help your apply them and are available at Dis-Chem. They only have about 6 colours available but I'm really hoping they bring in the nudes collection soon! 

Below are the two colours I purchased, Bombshell & Blushing. Bombshell is a bit too vibrant for me (even though it does not really look like it in the photo), but I've really been enjoying wearing Blushing on days where I want a bit more colour (you guys know I love my nude lipsticks).

[REVIEW]: LA Girl Beauty Brick Blush in Glow

Glow Beauty Brick from LA Girl

LA Girl is quickly moving up in the ranks of budget beauty for me. First of all, they are cruelty free; secondly I'm obsessed with their concealer and now I've added this blush brick to my ever growing LA Girl Cosmetics collection. 

There are 4 palettes each with 2 blushes, a bronzer and a highlighter. I chose Glow as it's more suited for lighter and fair toned skin. 

Glow contains a rosy pink blush and a lighter nude-like pink blush; a subtle bronzer that doesn't leave my skin looking orange (fair skinned girls know this is always a problem) and a shimmery light highlighter. 

All shades are pretty pigments and easily blendable. 

These palettes are still available at some Dis-Chem for about R70.00 (i think :/).

[REVIEW]: LA Girl Matte Pigment Gloss

Dreamy; Fantasy & Rebel from LA Girl Cosmetics

I've mentioned these glosses a few times on my snapchat (username: glamgreengirl) and even in this YouTube video - so here is a full review of these that I've been chatting nonstop about.

The LA Girl Matte Flat Finish Pigment Gloss is less of a lipgloss and more of a liquid lipstick in my opinion. It creates a matte effect and have a slightly sticky feeling. 

When they launched in South Africa, I took advantage of the special that Dis-Chem was having and bought 3 colours - Dreamy; Fantasy & Rebel.

I wore Rebel to the SA Beauty Blog awards as it made such a great statement colour for my outfit and I've tried to wear Fantasy a few times but it comes out as too much of a neon pink on my lips. My favourite and the one that I mentioned in my video, is Dreamy, I wear it nearly everyday! 

I'm not too sure if Dis-Chem still stock these as they no longer have them at the hazeldean branch but they sold for R70.00 each and while I'm not the biggest fan of Fantasy and will save Rebel for nights out, I adore Dreamy!

[REVIEW]: LA Girl Pro BB Cream

BB Cream in Light/Medium

 



I've seen this BB Cream from LA Girl featured on quite a few beauty blogs and at R59.99 from Dis-Chem, I couldn't pass up the chance of testing it for myself.

 

Straight up I will be honest with you, I thought it would offer more coverage especially after all the reviews I had read so I was a bit disappointed in that regard. This BB Cream primes, moisturises and enhances skin tones as stated on the LA Girl website and this is true, I would've just liked a bit more coverage.

 

Having said that though, I still wear this in the week instead of foundation. I prefer wearing something light on my skin for my day to day duties and wear foundation on the weekend or if I've got an event. So I combine this BB Cream with my LA Girl Pro HD concealer which I chat about in this video. This gives me the courage I'm looking for while still being 'light' on my skin.

 

This Pro BB Cream is paraben free and fragrance free so it's perfect if you have sensitive skin and it even has added Vitamin B3, C & E.

 

Would I buy it again? Yes, even though I wish it had more coverage, the price tag is amazing for everyday usage. Plus LA Girl is cruelty-free so that's another reason why I support them!

 

This shade that I use is the light/medium shade.
