[REVIEW]: Dr Hauschka Kajal Eyeliner

Black Kajal Eyeliner from Dr Hauschka

Eyeliner is every girl's best friend and I don't go a day without wearing it. I always wear it on my top lash line and for nights out I use it on my lower lashes. Dr Hauschka has amazing natural make up and this eyeliner fits right into that category.

The Kajal Eyeliner from Dr Hauschka comes in both brown and black. It sweeps easily onto your eyelids and stays on throughout the day. It's made from plant waxes and oil which help care for delicate eye areas. It's also made from Witch Hazel and Black Tea Extracts which create a soothing effect and which also means it's suitable for those with sensitive skin. I love this as I have a sensitive eye area which means I have to be careful with what eye products I use.

This eyeliner also comes with a smudge applicator on the other end to help you achieve that smokey eye look. Thanks to the Carnauba wax & jojoba oil, it's easy to apply.

Natural; vegan; cruelty free and gentle on your eyes - what more could a Glam Green Girl ask for?

This eyeliner retails for R250.00 and is available from Faithful To Nature.

[REVIEW]: Dr Hauschka Med Cream

Acute Care Potentilla from Dr Hauschka Med

Around April/May, I started to notice a few bumps on my forearm, sort of like tiny whiteheads. I didn't think anything of it until a few weeks later when it started itching; going red and broke out in sort of a rash. I tweeted this picture (gross I know) to ask some of my followers if they had any idea what it was? I'm still not 100% sure if it is eczema or a stress spot but I had tried all sorts of natural remedies to try soothe my skin.

About 6 weeks after I post that photo, I got a press drop from Dr Hauschka telling me about their new product - I took it as a sign that I was meant to use the cream on my arm.

Before I tell you more about the cream, let me first tell you that you can't even tell where that patch was on my arm! No lies!

So what is this Acute Care Potentilla Cream? Well it's specifically formulated to give relief to skin that is prone to atopic dermatitis. It's free of perfumes so it won't agitate skin. It contains medical herbs such as Rosemary Leaf Extract as well as Sesame Seed Oil; Jojoba Seed Oil as well Shea Butter which helps nourish and hydrate the affected skin areas.

This product retails for R377.00 which I know is pricey but if you're like me and nothing seemed to help, try give this product a go!

Have you suffered from eczema or stress patches? What do you use to help it?

[REVIEW]: New Makeup Winter 2015

New Makeup I'm Testing Out This Winter

Today on the blog, I'm sharing a few of my top cruelty free choices for new makeup that I've using the past few weeks.

First up we have the Essence I love nude eyeshadow range in 03 Crème Brulee (top picture) and 05 My Favourite Tauping (second picture). These eyeshadows ar perfect for everyday wear as they can be worn together or separately. They are both gorgeous nudes, My Favourite Tauping being a bit darker is great to use on your outer eyelid while using Crème Brulee more towards the inner part of your eyelid as it's lighter. These Essence eyeshadows are silky and have a sating smooth texture, plus they are long lasing which is great because these beauties only cost R47.95 each.
*Available at Clicks and Dischem

Another Essence product, one that I am kind of obsessed with. It's the Lash Princess False Lash Effect Mascara that really treats your eyelashes like royalty. I've tried an essence mascara before and wasn't impressed but this one is amazing!  It lengthens your lashes and adds volume without clumping them. I can't wait to do a makeup tutorial on my YouTube Channel with this mascara to show you how great it really is. It retails for R63,50 so I'm definitely going to stock up on a few bottles of these.
*Available at Clicks and Dischem

This is from a brand called CALA which you can find at Dischem. It's my first time using one of their brushes so I decided to try out the cruelty free eyeshadow brush called Angled Shadow 314. It's only 29.95 ,has soft bristles and is great for blending darker colours along the outer corner of your eyelid. I'm definitely going to buy some more of their brushes (just double check their packaging though because not all are cruelty free).
*Available at Dischem

This gorgeous bronzing powder is from the amazing Dr Hauschka brand, I lust over all their makeup - so beautiful. This powder gives your skin a beautiful sun kissed look, apply to your cheeks for a bronzed look or a light layer over your face to give yourself a bit of tan. It retails for R458.00
*Available at www.tocara4.co.za

This liquid eyeliner is a Conditioning Liquid Eyeliner from Lash Food that helps your lashes to become longer; thicker and stronger. I got this from the lovely Leoni from Infinity Skincare and will get more details on prices and where it's available from soon. The packaging doesn't state that this eyeliner is waterproof but it sure feels like that when I'm trying to remove it haha.

This eye pencil broke as I was photographing it :( but it just shows you how soft this Jumbo Eye Pencil from LA Girls is. This colour is called Sun Kissed and is a gorgeous metallic golden brown. I think it was about R20.00 and adds a gorgeous pop to your eye look.
*Available from Dischem.

I'm not sure what I love more about this brush, the soft bristles or the pastel purple with lace detail. This Powder Brush from Essence is perfect for applying loose or pressed powder and like I said, has soft, velvety bristles. It retails for R57.95 - there are some really cute brushes in this collection!
*Available at Clicks and Dischem

Would you like to see me use these products in a few videos soon? Let me know which ones you've tried.

STYLE: Leather Trimmings

Outfit Post

Hi everyone!

So I've mentioned in a few posts that I've been trying to slow down with my shopping addiction by going on a 'shopping ban' as I honestly have no idea where my money has been going lately. I must admit, I have been pretty well behaved - you can even ask Chicara from Lipgloss Kisses as I've been constantly moaning to her haha.

Anyway, the other day I was out with my brother and I spotted this cool top at Factorie, I knew I shouldn't have even picked it up but I was so chuffed when I saw it had been marked down to only R90.00! My friends like to call me Bargain Barbie as I always managed to find good deals and I mean who hasn't been loving a bit of leather this winter?

On the weekend, I met up with some of my girlfriends for a late lunch and the weather had been so great the whole week but was miserable on Saturday so I thought it would be the perfect occassion to wear my new top. I wanted to make it edgy and cool so I wore it with my leggings (which you'll notice I pretty much live in) along with black wedge boots and paired it with a black envelope clutch that I also once bought on sale, as well as a super rad Batman ring that was also on sale (told you I love a good bargain!).

I love Batman, like seriously love! In highschool all my pencil cases were Batman ones so when I saw this ring was on sale from It's a Bling Thing for only R20.00, I obviously had to get it!

For my make up, I used my Dr Hauschka Eye Shadow Palette as well as the Roitfield shade from my 27Pinkx High End Palette to create a slight smokey eye.

What do you think of the leather trend? Have you added some pieces to your winter wardrobe?
Oh, and obviously this isn't real leather ;)

REVIEW: Dr Hauschka Eye Shadow Palette

Eye Shadow Palette from Dr Hauschka

I few weeks ago when I turned 24, I was utterly spoilt for my birthday! I was overwhelmed with all the birthday wishes & love I received, as well as the fabulous birthday presents! So spoilt!

I had this beautiful eye shadow on my Birthday Wishlist (Part 1) as I thought it had such beautiful colours and can be used for day or night looks and would work well with my blue eyes. I didn't expect to get one, but my dear family friend, Nadia spoiled me with one for my birthday! *Thanks SO much again doll!*

As you know some from my previous Dr Hauschka posts, these brand focuses on whats good for your skin and for the environment and leaves out all the nasties! This eye shadow palette is free of synthetic preservatives and scents and is dermatologically tested!

How beautiful are these colours? So perfect for either creating a natural look or to go into more of a smokey eye!

What are your thoughts on this palette?

Part 1 - Make Up

Those of you who know me, know that my birthday is my favourite part of the year! Summer has started and it's almost Christmas, so everyone is in a festive mood. It's 2 weeks until my birthday so I'm getting excited!

I've seen a few 'Birthday Wishlists' on some blogs I love so I decided to put together a little wishlist of my own.

I had quite a few items so I decided to split it up in to two parts. I really want to build up my natural make up collection so part 1 is dedicated to make up.

5. Zao Pearly Eyeshadow in Bronze

6. Zao Lipgloss in Beige

7. Dr Hauschka Eyeshadow Palette

8. Zao Powder Brush

What do you think of my choices?
Look out for Part 2 :)

Winter Beauty Products 2013

My Top 9 Products for Winter 2013

It's 5 weeks till spring but the dry winter air is still looming here in Pretoria - here are a few of the products I've enjoyed using this winter to keep me looking my best:

1. Balm Balm Recovery Bath and Body Oil Spray - since its almost spring, that means its almost bikini time and this spray is so great after a hectic gym session

2. Karma Naturals Body Butter -won this body butter from Live Green Beauty and it's been such a great product to use when I suffer from dry skin

3. Zoya Nail Polish "Sam" - I love this colour for winter!

4.Beauty Factory Co Hand & Nail Cream (originals) - I keep this on my desk to keep my hands moisturised through out the day

5. Alima Pure Lip Balm "Sweet Pea" - This lip balm is a great colour to wear during the day, but the reason I love it is because of the peppermint oil!

6. Dr Hauschka Nourishing Rose Body Wash - I love the scent and the beautiful essential oils

7. Balm Balm Rose Geranium Hand Balm - I've been using this hand balm on my face (all their balms are multi-purpose), the rose geranium is great for dry skin

8. Esse Eye Make Up Remover - I've only just started using this product but I love it already, I wear a lot of eye make up so I use it after I've washed my face just to get the last remaining traces of make up off (look out for a full review soon)

9. The Victorian Garden Day Moisturising Serum -  this review says it all!

What products have you been loving this winter? I'd love to hear what your favourites have been!

REVIEW: Dr Hauschka Facial

A Divine Dr Hauschka Facial

Last week I was treated to an amazing facial by Samantha Westlake-Bown, from the Dr Hauschka team. But instead of me trying to explain everything, I asked Samantha to send me the low down of the process she used while spoiling me with a wonderful experience (see my response in italic black)

Facial Process:

·         Applied fragrant Lavender compresses(Dr.Hauschka compresses soaked in Dr.Hauschka Lavender bath) to the face and décolleté to prepare the face for its first cleanse. These compresses smelt amazing, the lavender totally relaxed me in preparation of my facial

·         Removed makeup using the cleansing lotion and Dr.Hauschka Sponges moving from the center of the face outwards to work with the direction of lymphatic flow. Dr Hauschka believes in stimulating the lymphatic flow of the face (see below for more information)

·         Applied more fragrant lavender bath compresses to prepare the face for a deep cleanse. Divine!

·         Cleansed the face using Dr.Hauschka cleansing cream to gently cleanse, fortify and exfoliate the skin whilst not disturbing your protective hydo-lipid layer. Non foaming to avoid stripping the skin of important oils. Dr Hauschka doesn't believe in exfoliating the skin, as you remove not only old skin cells but damage the new "baby" skin cells which can lead to pigmentation.

·         Gently steamed the face using a hand held steamer containing facial steam bath to open the pores whilst softening blackheads and impurities. Since it was a small hand held steamer, it wasn't too harsh on my skin.

·         After steaming we apply the cleansing clay mask to draw all impurities out of the pores and skin and bind to dirt particles on the skins surface-this mask is left on for 5-10 minutes depending on skin condition. Samantha used this mask to gently remove dead skin cells, instead of harshly scrubbing it away.

·         After removing clay mask we commence with Lymph stimulation-Using soft Dr.Hauschka Lymph stimulation brushes the skin is gently and effectively stroked and massaged to stimulate the wafer thin lymph capillaries. This helps remove metabolic waste and excess fluid found in the face whilst allowing fresh oxygen and nutrients to penetrate your cells, leaving your tissues purified and detoxified. This stimulates your bodies self cleansing powers gently and in an unobtrusive or abrasive manner. I was fascinated by this process! I've even begun to cleanse, tone and moisturise my skin using this method - work from the center of your face outwards eg: from your nose to your cheeks.

·         After this a treatment mask is applied to the skin. This mask is chosen specifically to suit your skin condition at present and helps the skin to adjust to changing environmental conditions and external stresses. The 4 types are soothing mask, moisturizing mask, rejuvenating mask and firming mask. It provides the skin with specific concentrated ingredients to help heal, nourish and revitalise the skin. Samantha applied the rejuvenating mask to my skin

·         While this mask is on the face the décolleté area is gently massaged using specific soft Dr.Hauschka techniques. One of the Dr.Hauschka indulgent body oils are used for this-lemon lemongrass, rose, blackthorn, moor lavender, almond stjons wort, or birch arnica body oils. The lemon-lemongrass oil was used to massage my decollete area, the scent is so invigorating!

·         To complete the facial we use fragrant infused compresses of lemon bath to take you out of your slumber. This fragrance really does revitalise you and gives you a "wake up" - I loved it!

·         Followed by toner and one of the day creams. Read my review on these two products here

If you are in the Gauteng area and you are interested in treating yourself to a Dr Hauschka facial - let me know and I'll put you in contact with Samantha!

REVIEW: Dr Hauschka - Shower Balms

Dr Hauschka Rose Shower Balm

A Body wash with essential oils? Sold!
These shower balms are good for the mind; body and spirit. Soft and gentle on your skin with a divine fragrance, it makes shower time a spoiling.

Formulated with a high content of botanical oils, you don't feel the need to apply body lotion straight after your shower  With it being winter now and everyone having dry skin, these oils will be lapped up by your skin.

An important ingredient of the shower balm, is the quince seed. Quince seed helps protect the skin, boosts its ability to absorb moisture and makes the shower balms more even gentle on your skin.

I love the rose fragrance, and would definitely like to try the Almond one next! I think the Lavender Sandalwood would be great for unwinding at night and the Lemon Lemongrass a nice wake up scent for your morning shower.

Available from June 2013 - R215 for 200ml

Which one would you consider buying?
